Update: Group Breakdown User Experience Redesign Completed

Update 7/24/2026: The Group Breakdown user experience redesign is now complete across all applicable Campus Data Warehouse dashboards. The redesign was implemented across dashboards and data models supporting Admissions, Enrollment, Courses and Grades, Retention and Graduation, Degrees, Credentials, and other areas of analysis. Previous dashboard updates introduced the redesigned controls in stages as enhancements moved into production. The redesigned interaction combines the Group Breakdown category and field into a single control. This streamlined approach: Makes it faster and more efficient to discover and apply grouping fields Allows related Group Breakdowns to appear together Enables searches using either category or field names Reduces the number of controls required, particularly on Multilevel Crosstab tables Creates a simpler and more consistent experience across dashboards This solution was informed by collaboration with the Data User Advisory Group, user experience consultati...

Resolved: Academic Plan and CSU Major Concentration Issues on Dashboards

Update 7/23/2026: With the recent addition of Academic Plan filters to the Credentials, Overviews, Executive Overview, and Academic Program Review dashboards, the Academic Plan dashboard user experience improvement project is now complete. Across applicable Campus Data Warehouse dashboards, the default fields used in visuals and on-dashboard filters are now: Academic Plan Owner (College) Degree Description Academic Plan (Major) These fields replace CSU Major Concentration fields—such as College Description, Degree Group, and Major Long Description—as the default dashboard selections. CSU Major Concentration fields remain available as Group Breakdown options on most dashboards. Concentration also remains available as an on-dashboard filter on many dashboards. The correction to Academic Plan effective-date logic resolved most discrepancies between the Academic Plan and CSU Major Concentration fields. Update: Race / Ethnicity Changes on Campus Data Warehouse Dashboards

Update 7/23/2026: Credentials-related dashboards based on the ERS Credentials dataset have been updated with the renaming of Legacy Race / Ethnicity fields and the addition of IPEDS Race / Ethnicity fields in Campus Data Warehouse. The IPEDS Race / Ethnicity and IPEDS Underrepresented Minority (URM) fields have replaced the Legacy Race / Ethnicity (pre-2026) and Legacy Underrepresented Minority (pre-2026) filters in the Controls dropdowns at the top of the dashboard, where appropriate. Both the IPEDS and Legacy fields are available in the Group Breakdowns, but the Legacy fields will not have data for Fall 2026 applicants and enrollees. Because students typically receive credential recommendations later in their academic careers, the impact on this dashboard may not become visible immediately. New Features: Multiple Race Category Filter Added to Enrollment Dashboards

The ERS Student (enrollment Census and Pre-Census) dashboards in Campus Data Warehouse have been updated with a new Multiple Race Category filter available in the optional controls section at the top of each dashboard page. The new control provides a more granular way to identify and track students who selected multiple race categories. Users can filter for specific multi-race combinations. Multiple Race Category is a derived value based on student responses to the race question on the CSU Application for admission. Additional information about this field and its available values is provided in the CSUMB Data Glossary . The new control is especially useful within the census and pre-census Multilevel Crosstab Table pages, where users may need to examine enrollment data for students selecting particular combinations of race categories. New Features: Overview and Fast Facts Academic Plan Updates

The Overview dashboards, Executive Overview, and Enrollment Fast Facts dashboards in Campus Data Warehouse have been updated with new filters for Academic Plan Owner (College), Degree Description, and Academic Plan (Major) so that they are more consistent with the default filters available across other dashboards. Academic Plan Owner (College) and Academic Plan (Major) were also swapped into various dashboard visualizations where appropriate.  These fields replace the Major / Concentration controls previously used in the dashboards. The updated Academic Plan controls more closely align the Overview and Fast Facts dashboards with changes incorporated across other Campus Data Warehouse data models, trends, and crosstab dashboards. They also provide a consistent way to select colleges, degree programs, and academic plans when moving between dashboards. The Academic Program Review dashboards in Campus Data Warehouse have been updated with new filters added for Academic Plan Owner (College), Degree Description, and Academic Plan (Major) so that they are more consistent with the default filters available across other dashboards. New Features: Project Rebound Student Group Added to Campus Data Warehouse

The Project Rebound student group has been added to Campus Data Warehouse to support reporting and analysis for students participating in the program.  The new student group is available across the following data model and dashboard areas: Enrollment (Census and Pre-Census),  Retention and Graduation (Census and Preliminary),  Grades (Non-Census),  Degrees (Census),  Credentials (Census) Using the Project Rebound Student Group Where Group Breakdown controls are available, users can select: Student Group | Project Rebound This allows dashboard results to be grouped by Project Rebound participation. All updates are now available in Campus Data Warehouse production. Project Rebound is also available as an ad hoc filter in QuickSight, allowing users to limit dashboard results to students participating in the program.   The Credentials Recommendations dashboard has been updated in Campus Data Warehouse with new features and user experience improvements, including redesigned Group Breakdown controls, updated Race / Ethnicity fields, a new Project Rebound student group, and layout changes for greater consistency with other dashboards. New Dashboard Available: College Annual Metrics

We are pleased to share that a new College Annual Metrics dashboard is now available in Campus Data Warehouse production. The College Annual Metrics dashboard brings together annual college-level metrics in one place to support planning, annual reporting, program review, and conversations about student success and instructional activity. Users can select a college and review recent trends, year-over-year changes, and comparisons with Cal State Monterey Bay overall where available. The dashboard includes the following pages: FTEs (State) Overview: Review state-support Major FTEs, Instructional Student FTEs, and Student Faculty Ratio together to understand broad college-level trends over time. Student Diversity: Explore how the student population in your college has changed by gender, first-generation status, and IPEDS Underrepresented Minority status, with comparisons to Cal State Monterey Bay overall.
