Cal State Monterey Bay - Campus Data Warehouse Updates

Update 3/25/2026:  The Admissions-related dashboards based on the Admissions Funnel dataset have been updated with the renaming of Legacy Race / Ethnicity fields and the addition of IPEDS Race / Ethnicity fields. The IPEDS Race / Ethnicity and IPEDS Underrepresented Minority (URM) fields have replaced the Legacy Race / Ethnicity (pre-2026) and Legacy Underrepresented Minority (pre-2026) filters in the Controls dropdowns at the top of each dashboard. Both the IPEDS and Legacy fields are available in the Group Breakdowns, but the Legacy fields will not have data for 2026 Fall applicants.  Additional dashboards will be updated with these changes in the coming months, and we will share updates as these changes are available in the Campus Data Warehouse.

The Admissions Funnel (Census Snapshots) | Admissions Funnel Detail dashboard is updated in Campus Data Warehouse with the following enhancements:  IPEDS Race / Ethnicity filters  have replaced the Legacy Race / Ethnicity and Legacy Underrepresented Minority filters in the Controls section along the top of each dashboard.  Standardized filters so that each page has consistent layouts for the on-dashboard filters and Controls dropdown. Group Breakdown redesign simplifies the steps needed to find a Group Breakdown and enables searching for category or field names. Link updates for IAR Website/Data Glossary changes. Multilevel Crosstab Table user experience updates enable different table layouts that hide unnecessary Group Breakdown or metric columns. New Related dashboards page.  Group Breakdown controls have been redesigned to combine categories and fields in one dropdown that can be quickly scrolled through or searched using the Search box at the top of the list.

Update 3/25/2026:   The issue with the "Difference in Current Term Metric from Prior Term" and "Percent Difference in Current Term Metric from Prior Term" fields has been resolved on Admissions (Pre-Census Snapshots) > Daily Trends. The metrics are now updating appropriately based on filter selections.

Update 3/25/2026:  The issue with the null data appearing for Race / Ethnicity fields across Enrollment (ERS Student) and Admissions Funnel historical census dashboards has been resolved. These data are now populating across dashboards as expected.

Update 3/25/2026: The Admissions Funnel process has successfully run for the last two days and the Admissions (Pre-Census Snapshots) dashboard is updating as expected with daily snapshots.

The Cost of Instruction dashboard in Campus Data Warehouse (QuickSight) has been decommissioned. A replacement dashboard developed and maintained systemwide by the Chancellor's Office is suggested as an alternative. Background on Known Issues:  Since the launch of Campus Data Warehouse in AWS QuickSight in August 2024, the Cost of Instruction dashboard has experienced ongoing data quality and functionality issues that have not been fully resolved. These issues have impacted the reliability of the dashboard for reporting and analysis. Over the past two years, multiple alerts have documented persistent problems with the Cost of Instruction dashboard, including: Incorrect and inflated metrics due to data duplication and modeling issues.  Data inaccuracies following APDB census data loads, particularly affecting enrollment and other key measures.  Dashboard errors and failures to return results in production.  Ongoing validation and refresh issues preventing reliable use...
