New Dashboard: Class Meeting Timeblocks

A new dashboard, Class Meeting Timeblocks, is available in Campus Data Warehouse to support planning and analysis, combining class scheduled meeting patterns, building and room usage, and campus approved timeblock alignment in one place. The new dashboar is designed to support academic scheduling, space utilization, and student-centered planning of course curriculum and scheduling.  This dashboard helps you answer questions like: How are classes scheduled across the week? What are the most popular and least used days and class times? When does the campus experience peak scheduling demand? Where is there additional capacity during the instructional week? How are classrooms and buildings being used? Which buildings and rooms are used most frequently for instruction? What subjects or departments rely most heavily on specific facilities? When are rooms underutilized or not scheduled for classes? How do scheduling patterns differ by subject, level, or modality? Do...

Resolved: "Gender (IPEDS)" Field Displays "Null" Values Across Several ERS Dashboards

Image
Gender (IPEDS) was updated in production across a number of Chancellor's Office Reports dashboards to account for changes needed in the logic to use codes rather than descriptions. Most dashboards where this was an impact are found in:  Shared folders / Dashboards / Chancellor's Office Reports / IPEDS.

Navigation and Help Dashboard S3 Dataset Redesign

The Navigation and Help dashboard has been retrofitted in production to use a different dataset (sourced from S3 in AWS rather than from a CSV file in production) that will enable us to more easily maintain the dashboard across accounts (e.g. stage and production) and will enable some additional end-user navigation features moving forward.  More up-to-date navigation and help content The Navigation and Help dashboard will be easier for the team to update, so users are less likely to see outdated links or guidance. Improved ways to find related dashboards Users will start seeing smarter navigation features, like “related dashboard links” on topical dashboards, making it easier to discover relevant content without hunting around. More consistent and reliable experience Because the data now comes from a centralized, easier-to-manage source, navigation links should be more stable and less prone to breaking or lagging behind changes elsewhere. No workflow disruption This ...

Enhancements Available on Enrollment (Census) Detail Dashboards

Image
The Enrollment (Census) Terms Detail and Enrollment (Census) Academic Years Detail dashboards have been updated in Campus Data Warehouse with usability improvements for dashboard controls, including a redesigned Group Breakdown and Metrics experience that makes it easier to find the information you need faster.   The Trends pages have been updated to include the redesigned Group Breakdown experience that was previously introduced on the Enrollment (Pre-Census Snapshots) dashboard. In addition, the other dashboard controls have been reorganized to follow a standard layout across all the dashboard pages and the table visualization now includes conditional color gradients that highlight the intensity of the metrics selected. The CSUMB / College / Major Comparisons pages have been streamlined to highlight the trend comparisons between the university overall, a selected Academic Plan Owner (College) and/or a selected Academic Plan (Major). The visualization enhancements made to the Tren...

Faculty Student Success 2025 Fall Weeks Missing Engagement

Image
I n our December Data User Advisory Group workshop, we discovered that Canvas user engagement score metrics are showing all 0.0 for most weeks of the term. Metric: "User Engagement" (sourced from User Engagement Dataset (RLS)). Some other Canvas metrics such as "Current Score %" (sourced from User Engagement Dataset (RLS)) and individual weekly "Total Canvas Clicks" (sourced from Page View Dataset) are appearing.  Investigation into the root cause is ongoing. We will monitor as the Spring term begins to see if the metric continues to populate as it did for the last weeks of the Fall 2025 term.

Legacy Campus Data Warehouse (OBIEE) No Longer Available

As a result of necessary server decommissioning, the legacy Campus Data Warehouse reporting system, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), is no longer available.  The underlying database data and daily snapshot history from OBIEE are preserved, and the Campus Data Warehouse team will begin work on migrating the historical snapshots into our AWS environments beginning in January 2026.
