Resolved: Faculty Student Success > Ontime Assignment Metric

Resolution update 9/4/2025:

The CSUMB Data Glossary entry for On Time Assignments was updated to include more information on how the On Time Assignments Assignment Status and % metrics are derived from the Canvas data:

The Ontime Assignments % is derived by looking at all graded Canvas assignments and the assignment status (e.g. Late, Missing, OnTime).

The "OnTime" status applies when the "Submitted At" date is before the "Due At" date for the assignment in Canvas or the faculty member graded the assignment manually and entered the grade.

In addition, on the "Student Detail" page linked from individual student records on the newly redesigned "Current Term Students" and "Canvas Engagement" pages of the Faculty Student Success dashboard, you can see a detailed table that presents the Canvas "Assignment Status," "Due at," and "Submitted at" information for each assignment.

Original issue:

The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem in production where the Ontime Assignment metric presented in Canvas New Analytics does not align with the Ontime Assignment metric presented on the Faculty Student Success dashboard. We are currently working on a solution.

This issue is being worked on in ITSR#23481721.

Title: Faculty Student Success > Ontime Assignment Metric

The issue here is the Ontime Assignment presented in Canvas vs how we have presented them on FSSD is defined in a different way.

We will need to decide whether to change the way the definition of this metric is done in FSSD to be in alignment with Canvas New Analytics, or we need to be clear in our definition of this metric in the data glossary.
