Resolved Issue: Institution Summary Dashboards - Most Recent Census Data Now Shows in QuickSight

Update 12/3/2024:

The issue with Institution Summary dashboards (i.e. Graduation Initiative 2025 and Retention and Graduation) not updating as expected after the Fall 2024 ERS Student census load has been resolved. The hard-coded dataset calculations have been replaced with logic that will update automatically when new census data is loaded. 

Graduation Initiative 2025 dashboards are now available in production but other Institution Summary dashboards (e.g. Retention and Graduation) remain unavailable as we continue to work to resolve issues with 'rehoming' returning students and inflated retention metrics.

Original issue:

The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem in production where the most recent retention and graduation rates are not displaying on the Retention and Graduation and Graduation Initiative 2025 dashboards as expected after our Fall 2024 ERS Student census load last week. We are currently working on a solution. 

In the meantime, you may continue to use the Retention and Graduation and Graduation Initiative 2025 dashboards in our legacy data warehouse available at csumb.edu/datawarehouse.

QuickSight: Oracle: Why? The vendor hardcoded calculations in the dataset (standards violation) to exclude the most recent term for which data was available but for which we had not reached census. Example of calculation hardcoded value to exclude '2234 (2023 Fall)', which causes this metric not to populate for the matriculation 2234 (2023 Fall) cohort on dashboards after the recent 2244 (2024 Fall) census load: All of the Retention/Graduation calculations will need updating in the dataset and all dashboards checked.
