Cal State Monterey Bay - Campus Data Warehouse Updates

The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of usability issues with the Group Breakdown controls in QuickSight and is currently exploring alternative configurations.  Over the summer, we will test a few different options with selected users and the Data User Advisory Group to identify a more friendly user experience for these dashboard controls. Please stay tuned for more details and participate when we reach out to the user community for feedback.

The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem with the DFW Grades and a few other related dashboards in production where the CSU Major Concentration Group Breakdowns (e.g. College Description, Major Long Description, Concentration, etc.) are not populating on the dashboards. We are currently working on a solution. 

The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem on the APDB Section - Annualized FTES > Trends page, where the Export > PDF function is generating an error.   While we investigate the issue, there is a workaround to PDF the page.  You can use Export > Print. Choose the page layout/size you'd like, and then do "Ctrl" + "P" or "Cmnd" + "P" to open the print dialogue. Then, change Print Destination > Adobe PDF.  The Export > PDF function works on the other page of this dashboard, and this error has not come up on other dashboards in Campus Data Warehouse. If you notice problems with the Export > PDF function on other dashboards, please submit a problem ticket .

We are pleased to share that a new Request to Recruit dashboard is now available to users with Cost of Instruction dashboard access in Campus Data Warehouse production. The Request to Recruit dashboard consolidates key metrics on course and major enrollments into a single dashboard that may be used to provide data as part of the justification process for requesting to recruit new faculty.  The dashboard includes two dashboard pages:  Course FTE and Avg Class Size - provides 5-Academic Year (Spring and Fall term) trends for Student FTEs from course enrollments and Average Class Size from the Academic Planning Database (APDB) state-supported sessions census. The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem with the Cost of Instruction dashboards in production: no results are displayed, and all dashboard visualizations display errors.  We are currently investigating the cause of the problem and working on a solution.  In the meantime, users with Cost of Instruction dashboard access may continue to access the dashboards in the legacy (Oracle) data warehouse at csumb.edu/datawarehouse .

We are pleased to share that a new Academic Program Health dashboard is now available to all users in Campus Data Warehouse production. The Academic Program Health Phase 1 dashboard release consolidates key academic program metrics across Degrees Awarded, Enrollment in Major, and Admissions Demand for both Bachelor's and Master's programs into a single dashboard view that can be filtered to a College, Major, or Concentration.  The new Academic Program Health dashboard in the Phase 1 release includes: Key Performance Indicators for the most recent Academic Years or Fall terms, with change from the prior year, and five-year trends for Degrees Awarded, Enrollment Headcount and FTE in major, and Admissions Funnel metrics (Applicant Count, Admit Count, New Enrollment Count, and admit to Enrollment Yields). Update 4/24/2025: " GE Class Area"  is displaying as expected across all of the impacted course-related dashboards except for Cost of Instruction, which cannot yet be validated due to ongoing issues with the Cost of Instruction dashboard in production. Example below of GE Class Area "A1" in Fall 2024 shows FYS 111 and HCOM 110 courses in alignment with the source. Academic  Class : APDB Section: Class  Enrollment: Class  Instructor: Cost of Instruction could not yet be validated in PRD due to ongoing failures in the dataset refresh.

Update 4/24/2025: The Academic Program Health dashboard was updated in Campus Data Warehouse production to correct the issue we were previously seeing with Concentrations not appearing correctly for the College of Education.   

Update 4/24/2025 : The Course Enrollment Demographics dashboard in Campus Data Warehouse production was updated to fix parameters not updating on dashboard reset and removal of "Low Income" data visualizations on the Overview.
