Resolved: Admissions-related Dashboard Fixes/Changes from Feb DUAG Feedback

Updated 5/20/2025: The Admissions-related dashboards have been updated in Campus Data Warehouse production to incorporate feedback and bug fixes discovered in our February Data User Advisory Group workshop.  Many thanks to our DUAG members for providing feedback and helping us to make these dashboards better for all campus users!

Summary of enhancements and changes by dashboard page: 

  • Admissions Funnel Detail > Global

    • Remove images in note boxes that were not appearing in PRD

    • Layout standardization/alignment

    • Remove on visual menus from title bars/text boxes/layout border boxes

    • Default Group Breakdown Category controls to Academic Plan

  • Admissions Funnel Detail > Admissions Funnel Overview

    • Fix “Admit to Enrollment Yield/Counts” colors/data labels

    • Fix graph subheads

    • Change the Metric selector to radio buttons

    • Conditional color formatting on pivot tables

    • Minor layout updates for alignment

  • Admissions Funnel Detail > Admissions Demographics by College

    • Remove extra Academic Plan filters

    • Remove College Description filter control; retain CSU Academic Plan Owner control

    • Swap CSU Academic Plan Owner into bar graph to replace the College Description; change bar graph to table with data bars

    • Remove CSU Pell Eligibility pie graph

  • Admissions Funnel Detail > Trends

    • Layout updates (size, coloring standardization)

    • Change the Admit Term Name selector to radio buttons

    • Change the Metric selector to radio buttons

    • Change Number of Terms to Include control to slider and add additional years

    • Update table conditional coloring gradients, and add row totals

    • Add x axis zoom bars

    • Add appropriate counts metrics in Yield line graphs tooltips

    • Add metric titles to tables

    • Bold legends

    • Add y-axis zoom scroll bars

    • Add new conditional rule logic for Metrics to Display in Table

    • Add new Metrics to Display in Table control and align controls

  • Admissions (Pre-Census Snapshots) > Global

    • Changed name to “Daily Trends”

    • Removed change graph; consolidated into line bar; added Percent Difference in Metric

    • Update line graph tooltips to include snapshot dates

    • Zoom scroll added to line graph x axis

    • Recoloring and formatting on line trend graphs

    • Table formatting; data bars added on term metrics

    • Difference in Current Term Metric from Prior Term added to table to table with conditional formatting

    • Percent Difference in Current Term Metric from Prior Term added to table with conditional formatting

  • Admissions (Pre-Census Snapshots) > Reports by Colelge, Program, and Major

    • Fix controls alignment

    • Add conditional color formatting based on selected metrics to pivot table views

  • Admissions (Pre-Census Snapshots) > Multilevel Crosstab Table

    • Add conditional rule logic for different Metrics to Display in Table

    • Add new Metrics to Display in Table control and align controls

    • Formatting on tables

  • Admissions (Pre-Census Snapshots) > Related Dashboards

    • Added parameterized links back to Navigation and Help for related dashboards

  • Admissions Funnel Projections > Overview

    • Add Current Term metrics requested by Enrollment Management (Current Applicant Count, Applicant to Admit Yield, Admit to Confirm Yield, Current Confirm Count)

  • Admissions Funnel Projections > Trend and Current Year Comparisons

    • Adjust Years to Include limits so just prior year can be selected


The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of some visualization issues (detailed in ticket details below) with Admissions-related dashboards. We are currently working on visualization fixes and enhancements to address these issues. 

This issue is being worked on in ITSR# 24194593.

Global: fix/remove icons not appearing in notes boxes

Admissions Funnel Detail > Admissions Funnel Overview:
  • Yellow bar graphs are too light and data labels do not have enough contrast (global across other pages of the dashboard)
  • Both graphs say "Yield Trends" but they are not both trend visualizations

  • Reconfigure graph y-axis; check "other" category
  • Can dates or months be shown as horizontal axis?
  • Investigate options for change bar coloring and adding change metric to table at bottom
  • View that would allow comparison of multiple prior years with current term?

  • Fix alignment of Admissions Cohort control

  • Add metric selector control to change the view of metrics in table

  • The Number of Years to Include control should have "2" option
Try parameterized "Related Dashboards" link to filter Navigation and Help "All Dashboards" view to related dashboards only
