Cal State Monterey Bay - Campus Data Warehouse Updates

Updated 5/20/2025:  The Admissions-related dashboards have been updated in Campus Data Warehouse production to incorporate feedback and bug fixes discovered in our February Data User Advisory Group workshop.  Many thanks to our DUAG members for providing feedback and helping us to make these dashboards better for all campus users! The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of usability issues with the Group Breakdown controls in QuickSight and is currently exploring alternative configurations.  Over the summer, we will test a few different options with selected users and the Data User Advisory Group to identify a more friendly user experience for these dashboard controls. Please stay tuned for more details and participate when we reach out to the user community for feedback.

The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem with the DFW Grades and a few other related dashboards in production where the CSU Major Concentration Group Breakdowns (e.g. College Description, Major Long Description, Concentration, etc.) are not populating on the dashboards. We are currently working on a solution. 

The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem on the APDB Section - Annualized FTES > Trends page, where the Export > PDF function is generating an error.   While we investigate the issue, there is a workaround to PDF the page.  You can use Export > Print. Choose the page layout/size you'd like, and then do "Ctrl" + "P" or "Cmnd" + "P" to open the print dialogue. Then, change Print Destination > Adobe PDF.  The Export > PDF function works on the other page of this dashboard, and this error has not come up on other dashboards in Campus Data Warehouse. If you notice problems with the Export > PDF function on other dashboards, please submit a problem ticket .

We are pleased to share that a new Request to Recruit dashboard is now available to users with Cost of Instruction dashboard access in Campus Data Warehouse production. The Request to Recruit dashboard consolidates key metrics on course and major enrollments into a single dashboard that may be used to provide data as part of the justification process for requesting to recruit new faculty.  The dashboard includes two dashboard pages:  Course FTE and Avg Class Size - provides 5-Academic Year (Spring and Fall term) trends for Student FTEs from course enrollments and Average Class Size from the Academic Planning Database (APDB) state-supported sessions census. It may be filtered by Academic Group, Academic Organization, and Subject Description.  Headcount and FTE in Major - provides 5-Academic Year (Spring and Fall term) trends for Headcount and State & Self-Support FTEs in Major from the Enrollment Reporting System enrollment census. The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem with the Cost of Instruction dashboards in production: no results are displayed, and all dashboard visualizations display errors.  We are currently investigating the cause of the problem and working on a solution.  In the meantime, users with Cost of Instruction dashboard access may continue to access the dashboards in the legacy (Oracle) data warehouse at csumb.edu/datawarehouse .
