New EdSights (Monte Chatbot) Analytics Dashboard Available

A new EdSights (Monte Chatbot) Analytics dashboard is now available in Campus Data Warehouse. The dashboard provides reporting on concerns identified through undergraduate students’ text message conversations with Monte, CSUMB’s AI assistant, to help the campus connect students with appropriate support.

Monte engages students through supportive, personalized text message conversations, with outreach campaigns approximately every two weeks. In its start-of-year message, Monte introduced itself as a resource for questions about CSUMB, tips, and campus resources. Students were reminded that messages are not anonymous, staff may follow up when needed, and urgent concerns should be directed to a human at CSUMB.

The Risk Categories and Ratings page provides:

  • An overview of Overall, Academic, Engagement, Financial, and Wellness Risk, with ratings of High Risk, Medium Risk, Low Risk, or Not Applicable.

  • Filters for term, college, degree, major, risk rating, and additional student characteristics.

  • Group Breakdown options to explore results across student groups and academic units.

  • Metric selections for Headcount, Term Grade Point Average, Cumulative Grade Point Average, and Units Taken in Progress Wt Avg.

Interpreting the ratings: EdSights assigns risk ratings based solely on students’ text interactions with Monte. A Not Applicable rating indicates that a student did not respond to or initiate contact with Monte for that risk category; it should not be interpreted as a Low Risk rating.

For additional information about the data and definitions, visit the EdSights Analytics documentation in the CSUMB Data Glossary.
