New Feature: Dashboard Links in Campus Data Warehouse Redirect to Okta Single Sign On

Configuration changes have been completed on the Campus Data Warehouse QuickSight production environment that will now allow users to be directed to Okta Single Sign On screen automatically when clicking on a shared dashboard link or share this view dashboard link.   Previously, users had to first login to Campus Data Warehouse through the CSUMB dashboard before accessing shared links.  This change should make it faster to share dashboards with other users and to avoid extra steps of going to the CSUMB dashboard to login.

GE Class Area Descriptions Not Showing All GE Class Areas

Image
GC0006332 - GE Class Area and GE 25 Attributes - The "GE Class Area", "Class Attribute: GE 25", and "Class Attribute: General Education 2021-2024" logic as currently implemented is not working as intended. Descriptions are repeated on the dashboard (e.g. "A1~A1 Oral Communication~A1 Oral Communication"). The intention of pivoting the GE areas was that we expected some of the classes to have multiple GE Areas as attributes. Given that, we expected to see some descriptions that are combinations of various GE Areas. Need to adjust pivot logic and handle records with delete flag "Y".  Current impact for end-users is that using the GE Class Area as a filter and selecting an area, user will not see classes returned in the results that may have an additional GE Class Area that the class satisfies.

Redesigned Faculty Student Success Dashboard Available to All Faculty

Image
The Campus Data Warehouse team is pleased to have recently launched a redesigned Faculty Student Success dashboard (FSSD). The redesigned FSSD is now available for all faculty members to access in the Campus Data Warehouse.  Each faculty member only sees data for the courses and students they have taught or are teaching. The FSSD is a personalized tool that enables individual faculty members to gain powerful insights into how their students are doing — before, during, and after the students are enrolled in the faculty member's classes. With access to academic performance data, Canvas engagement metrics, demographic information, and equity metrics, faculty can explore trends in grades, identify students who may require support, and compare outcomes across terms or course sections. Please share the following with faculty in your area: Faculty Student Success Dashboard Informational Flyer Accessing the FSSD Log in to the Campus Data Warehouse through the Cal State Monterey Bay dash...

Resolved: Faculty Student Success > Ontime Assignment Metric

Image
Resolution update 9/4/2025: The CSUMB Data Glossary entry for On Time Assignments was updated to include more information on how the On Time Assignments Assignment Status and % metrics are derived from the Canvas data: The Ontime Assignments % is derived by looking at all graded Canvas assignments and the assignment status (e.g. Late, Missing, OnTime). The "OnTime" status applies when the "Submitted At" date is before the "Due At" date for the assignment in Canvas or the faculty member graded the assignment manually and entered the grade. In addition, on the "Student Detail" page linked from individual student records on the newly redesigned "Current Term Students" and "Canvas Engagement" pages of the Faculty Student Success dashboard, you can see a detailed table that presents the Canvas "Assignment Status," "Due at," and "Submitted at" information for each assignment.
