Cal State Monterey Bay - Campus Data Warehouse Updates

We’re excited to share a new round of enhancements to Courses- and Grades-related dashboards in the Campus Data Warehouse. These updates focus on improving usability, consistency, and alignment with evolving General Education (GE) frameworks—making it easier to find, explore, and interpret your data. What’s New Updated General Education Filters To better reflect prior and current GE structures: The legacy “GE Area” filters have been renamed to “General Education Area (2021–2024)” A new “General Education Area (2025)” filter has been added across dashboards These updates ensure you can clearly distinguish between GE frameworks and analyze data with the appropriate context. Updated 4/7/2026:  All of the APDB dashboards were audited and updated in production to ensure the duplicate Workload Factor filter reference that was hard-coded to K-Workload have been removed. The Workload Factor  control at the top of the dashboard now appropriately filters to user's workload factor selections.

Update 4/7/2026:  The calculated field was broken after migration from stage to production. Removing the calculated field metric from the visualization and then re-adding it to the visualization resolved the error. The dashboard in production has been republished and is no longer producing the error.

The Campus Data Warehouse has been loaded with APDB census data for the Spring 2026.  You may now find updated census data on the following dashboards:  Courses:  Academic Planning Database (APDB) > APDB Section - Annualized FTES  Academic Planning Database (APDB) > APDB Section - Avg Class Size and Credit Load  Academic Planning Database (APDB) > APDB Section - Faculty Instruction  Academic Planning Database (APDB) > APDB Section - Multilevel Crosstab Table  Academic Planning Database (APDB) > APDB Section - Term FTES and SFR  Academic Program Review:  Student Faculty Ratio > State Sessions (APDB)  Common Data Set I - Classes 

All dashboards under Shared Folders > Dashboards > Courses are now available to the general user role (all employees) in the Campus Data Warehouse.   This change will allow all users to explore additional Courses and Scheduling-focused dashboards including Class Schedule, Class Meeting Timeblocks, APDB, and other dashboards without going through the Alternative Data Access Request process. 

Update 2/11/2026: The APDB Overview page was update in production to replace the dynamic default parameter for the Term filter to use "lastfallcensusterm_apdb" rather than "lastcensusterm_apdb." The APDB Overview, like the other overview dashboards, will now update to the most recent fall census term for the data model.

The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem on the APDB Section - Annualized FTES > Trends page, where the Export > PDF function is generating an error.   While we investigate the issue, there is a workaround to PDF the page.  You can use Export > Print. Choose the page layout/size you'd like, and then do "Ctrl" + "P" or "Cmnd" + "P" to open the print dialogue. Then, change Print Destination > Adobe PDF.  The Export > PDF function works on the other page of this dashboard, and this error has not come up on other dashboards in Campus Data Warehouse. If you notice problems with the Export > PDF function on other dashboards, please submit a problem ticket .

The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem with the APDB Section - Term FTES and SFR dashboard (and potentially other APDB Section dashboards). The Group Breakdown data for "CSU APDB Learning Mode" are not correctly populating (all appear null).   We are currently working on a solution.  In the meantime, you may continue to use "Course Modality Group" and "Flexible Course Option Group" breakdowns on the APDB Section dashboards. The APDB Section - Multilevel Crosstab Table dashboard has been updated in Campus Data Warehouse production and includes new features:  New fields have been added to the APDB Section dataset and are available on the dashboard as Group Breakdowns in the "Course Characteristics" group breakdown category.  New "Metric Views" are available on the dashboard to enable users to select a Single Metric on the pivot table with "% of Total" metrics added.  

The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem with the "HEGIS Campus Description" field on the Academic Planning Database (APDB) dashboards in production. Some HEGIS Codes are showing "Not Applicable" instead of their appropriate Descriptions from the source. We are currently working on a solution. 

Updated 12/5/2024:   The updated APDB Section - Multilevel Crosstab Table dashboard is now available in Campus Data Warehouse production, and the "Academic Group" filter is now working as expected.   

Updated 12/4/2024:  The "APDB Census Snapshot Dates by Term" linked dashboard on the Navigation and Help dashboard in Campus Data Warehouse production has been corrected to display the title "Academic Planning Database (APDB) Census Snapshot Dates by Term". The most recent APDB Census Snapshot term is also corrected.

The Campus Data Warehouse team is aware of a problem in production where Academic Planning Database (APDB) dashboards display inflated values for the 2024 Fall census data due to duplication of values for some classes in the database. We are currently working on a solution. A resolution is estimated to be available by mid-November. In the meantime, you may use the APDB dashboard in our legacy data warehouse which remains available at  csumb.edu/datawarehouse .
